2009년 11월 29일(일)부터 12월 3일(목)까지 예술의전당 자유소극장에서 한국전자음악협회(KEAMS)가 주최하는 서울국제컴퓨터음악제(SICMF) 2009가 개최됩니다. 서울국제컴퓨터음악제는 악기, 컴퓨터음향, 영상, 무용 등의 매체가 어우러지는 전위적인 공연으로 음악과 테크놀러지가 어떻게 조우하고 결합되는지를 확인할 수 있다는 점에서 해마다 차별화된 공연을 선사하고 있습니다. 아시아에서 최초로 기획된 컴퓨터음악제인 서울국제컴퓨터음악제는 94년에 시작되어 올해로 16회를 맞이합니다. 그 동안 국내외에서 활발하게 활동하고 있는 작곡가들의 뛰어난 작품들에 의해 국내는 물론 전세계 컴퓨터음악의 주요한 흐름을 파악하고 주도하는 음악제로 성장했으며, 많은 해외의 작곡가들이 연주하고 싶어하는 무대가 되었습니다. 해마다 세계 각국의 작곡가들이 작품을 응모하고 이 중 엄선된 작품들이 연주되는데 올해에도 150여편에 달하는 작품들이 응모하였고 이 중 38작품이 선정되어 연주됩니다.
예년과는 달리 올해에는 첫날 Multimedia를 위한 공연으로 시작됩니다. 지금까지의 음악 위주의 공연에서 벗어나 다양한 매체가 어우러진 작품들만을 발표하는 날을 기획해서, 한국, 중국, 일본의 예술가들이 색다른 작품들을 발표합니다.
또한 올해에는 프랑스를 대표하는 컴퓨터음악 연구소인 GRAME이 초청됩니다. GRAME은 과학과 음악의 연구를 통한 새로운 예술 작품들의 제작과 보급을 목적으로 1982년에 설립되어, 현재 음악생산과 보급 및 작곡가 지원, 기초학문으로서의 음악정보학 연구, 비엔날레 개최라는 세가지 범주에서 심도있는 성과를 내고 있는 프랑스 국립 기관입니다. GRAME의 이번 공연에는 소속 작곡가 및 엔지니어들과 더불어 연주가들이 같이 내한하여 V.Carinola, K.Saariaho, P.Leroux 등 현대 프랑스를 대표하는 작곡가들의 뛰어난 작품들을 국내 초연하게 됩니다.

About SICMF 2009
The Seoul International Computer Music Festival (SICMF) held annually since 1994 is one of the biggest electro-acoustic music festivals in Asia, and also internationally well-known.
Every year over 100 composers from various countries submit their works for the festival, and about 20 pieces among them are chosen and performed at the festival. We also have invited special composers or performers for the festival such as DEGEM, CCRMA and Meta Duo.
