위 공연은 경기문화재단 2011년 문화예술진흥지원금 공모지원사업 우수예술프로젝트 지원사업 선정작품으로, 작곡가 신성아와 Graycode(a.k.a 조태복)의 합동작곡연주회로 현대음악, 컴퓨터음악, 라이브 인터액티브 퍼포먼스, 무용작품, 실험영화 등이 연주됩니다.
연주회 1부는 젊은 작곡가 조태복(a.k.a. Graycode)의 피아노와 실시간으로 센서를 통하여 소리의 데이터으로 이미지를 만들고 제어하는 피아노를 위한 Think of Tool, 첼로와 실시간 제어 컴퓨터를 위한 Nonverbal Communication 등이 연주됩니다.
2부에는 작곡가 신성아의 작품들로, 실험영상작가 조혜정과의 실험영화, 첼리스트 배기정을 위한 솔로첼로곡, 현대무용가 이윤정을 위한 라이브 이미지 제어를 위한 무용음악, 배우 김현아와 연출 김민정과 공동작업된 텍스트를 이용한 라이브퍼포먼스 등 2010-11년의 신작들이 선보입니다.

ABOUT COMPOSERS
신성아 작곡가
작곡가 신성아는 추계예술대학교 작곡과를 졸업(사사 황성호)하였으며, 미국 존스홉킨스대학교 피바디음악원 컴퓨터음악작곡(사사 Dr. McGregor Boyle) 석사학위(M.M.), 미주리주립대학교 연극대학 사운드디자인(사사 Prof. Tom Mardikes) 석사학위(M.F.A.), 음악대학 작곡전공(사사 Dr. Chen Yi, Dr. James Mobberley, Dr. Paul Rudy)으로 박사학위(D.M.A.)를 받았다.
1999년, Conservatoire America(Betsy Jolas, Andre Bon)에서 작곡공부를 하였으며, 미국 아스펜음악제 슈만영화학교에서 Susan & Ford Schumann Scholarship으로 사운드디자이너로 활동하였다. 2001-2년 미국 미주리 주립극단에서 사운드디자인 레지던스로 일하였으며, 2003년에는 뉴욕 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute(RPI) iEAR Studio에서 Residency Artist로 작업하며, iEAR PRESENTS! Arts Center of the Capital Region(Troy, New York)에서 단독 작품연주회를 개최하였다.
작곡가 신성아는 청각예술분야를 중심으로 전통적인 작곡을 기반으로 한 작업과 더불어 다양한 형태의 공연예술, 연극, 무용, 미디어, 영화/영상, 실험영화, 인스톨레이션, 다원예술 등의 예술분야에서 작곡가, 사운드 디자이너로 활발한 활동을 하고 있으며 이러한 작품들은 Seoul International Computer Music Festival(SICMF), Society of Composers Inc.(SCI) June in Buffalo, Florida Electroacoustic Music Festival, Santa Fe International Electroacoustic Music Festival, the “literatur-schallmauer” project, International Computer Music Conference, Seoul Fringe Festival, 창작관현악제, 서울단편영화제, 실험영화제, 광주비엔날레, Japan Media Project Series 등을 통해 연주하였다.
현재, 계명대학교 음악공연예술대학 작곡과 교수로 재직 중이며, 국제컴퓨터음악협회 아시아/오세아니아 지역부장으로 일하고 있다.
Seongah Shin, a composer, computer musician, sound designer, and educator, is a native of Seoul. She holds a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Composition at the Conservatory and Master in Fine Arts degree in theatre: design and technology, emphasis in sound design from the Theatre Department from University of Missouri-Kansas City where she studies with Dr. Chen Yi, Dr. James Mobberley, Dr. Paul Rudy, and Prof. Tom Mardikes. She also holds a Master of Music degree in Computer Music Composition from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University where she studied with Dr. McGregor Boyle. She studied composition and computer music with Prof. Hwang, Sungho at the Chugye University for the Arts in Seoul, Korea
Dr. Shin has also held the residency position at the Missouri Repertory Theatre in Kansas City. Her music has been performed at various conferences and festivals, including the Seoul International Computer Music Festival, Society of Composers Inc., June in Buffalo, Florida Electroacoustic Music Festival, Santa Fe International Electroacoustic Music Festival, the “literatur-schallmauer” project, International Computer Music Conference, Seoul International Computer Music Festival, Asia Computer Music Project, and various others. She also studied with Betsy Jolas, Andre Bon in Conservatoire America, and worked as a leading sound designer in the Aspen Music Festival and School in Film Scoring where she was the recipient of the Susan & Ford Schumann Scholarship. She worked as an artist residency in 2003-2004 at the iEAR studio at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York. She is a member of Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and Korean Electro-Acoustic Music Society.
She is the Asia/Oceania Regional Director and Vice President for Asia/Oceania for the International Computer Music Association since 2008 and she is a professor in the Department of Composition, Keimyung University, Korea.
조태복 (a.k.a. graycode)
젊은 작곡가 조태복은 추계예술대학교 작곡과(사사 문성준, 신성아)를 졸업하고, 현재 한국예술종합학교 음악테크놀로지 과정(사사 최지연, 황성호) 중에 있다. 한국전자음악협회에서 주최하는 젊은 컴퓨터음악작곡가들을 위한 페스티벌 fest-m 2007-09 연주하였으며, 울산대학교 공과대학주관 제8회 컴퓨터음악 음향콘텐츠 입상하였고, 서울프린지 페스티벌 공연, 천안함 주제의 컴퓨터음악작업으로 KBS TV에 출연하였다. 2011년, GRAYCODE Music Difference 앨범을 발매하며 GRAYCODE 이름으로 어쿠스틱음악작곡, 사운드디자인, 전자악기와 프로그래밍 개발 등 음악을 기반으로 활발한 활동 중이다.
Young composer, Taebok Cho is studied with Sungjun Moon and Seongah Shin at the Chugue University of Arts, Composition Major and currently a master student at Korea National University of Arts, School of Music, Music Technology Major and studied with Prof. Sungho Hwang. His works selected and performed by fest-m festival which hosted by Korean Electro Acoustic Society(KEAMS) in several times(2007-09), and also performed Seoul Fringe Festival. Recently, He released a solo album called GRAYCODE music difference(2011); active young composer a.k.a. GRAYCODE in computer music field.
